Hello from Naples, Florida

  Today is February 17th…two months from now I will be back in Sorrento! I just realized that today! I better start getting ready. I better make a list and check it twice…or three times! I want to get a new credit card to bring with me…one that doesn’t charge extra fees for using it outside the USA. I also want to order my euro. It’s good to check the rates every day. I need to decide on clothes, shoes, gifts for friends and family in Italy, transfers to and from airports, texting plan, etc. time is flying! I better get going! I also want to order a small coffee pot to bring with me. I’m embarrassed to admit that I really don’t like Italian coffee. I’m also bringing some peanut butter with me! I forgot to say…I will be there six weeks.

Sorrento…Gateway to Adventure

One of the things that I love best about staying in Sorrento is that it is very easy to visit many other places in southern Italy from there. How lovely to wake up in the morning, make some espresso and decide how you’re going to spend another beautiful day in Italy.  I love that I can walk to the railroad station…it’s near Piazza Tasso…and just hop on a bus that will take me to Amalfi. I can stay there and wander around or I can hop on another bus that will take me to Ravello or Salerno or any of the other lovely towns along the Amalfi coast. I can explore, have lunch and still be back to Sorrento in time to meet friends for drinks and dinner…or, maybe, to make some dinner and then take the passagiata (the evening walk) or go to a concert or to stop for a caffe e una Sfogliatella ( coffee and pastry). Ahhh! La dolce vita! (The sweet life!)

Dreaming of Sorrento

Dreaming about Sorrento…this is a view of the Bay of Naples as seen from a lovely spot that’s a few steps from Piazza San Antonino. I walk by it every day…sometimes two or three times a day. I love it because it’s never the same! It’s like a painting that changes all the time depending on the season, the time of day, the weather…it’s always a surprise and it’s always beautiful.

Getting Ready to Hit the Road!

Finally started packing for next weeks departure to Sorrento. Sorrento in May! Gorgeous! Spring in Italy! I’m taking all of you on my adventures in Southern Italy…Sud Italia! Bellissima!! Can’t wait to see all my old friends in Sorrento and looking forward to making some new friends!  Ci vediamo presto a tutti voi!
